Samantha Tapson (Sam) is 24 and has lived in Plymouth all of her life. Having completed a Bachelors Degree (BSc) in Social Sciences at Plymouth University she is now working for PATH (Plymouth Access to Housing) where she works on the Rough Sleeper team. This is a role Sam enjoys as it keeps her active and is very challenging at times.
Sam has had a keen interest in the outdoors since she was young, and was involved in many outdoor activities including climbing, abseiling, rowing, hill walking and traversing. She has worked in an outdoor shop and a local pub during her university years and it is through these part-time jobs that she first met the team. They were soon friends and sharing dreams of climbing mountains together. Sam took up climbing again in 2009 after a long break from the outdoors and is gaining her core strength back.
Sam enjoys a challenge and is training for the Plymouth Half Marathon at the moment, she is glad to be part of the Viking Hiking team. She is looking forward to the challenges that the fundraising will pose and hopes to be tackling some big mountains herself this summer.
